Strategy #1: The LinkedIn URL Hack
This job search trick works like a charm if you know how to use it. And the good news is, I’m going to show you how it works!
Most people filter LinkedIn jobs by “past 24 hours,” thinking they’re seeing the newest listings. But guess what? Even those jobs have over hundreds of applicants already.
So how do you find jobs that were posted just minutes ago, not hours?
Here’s the trick:
- Go to the LinkedIn job board and search for your role.
- Use the “Past 24 hours” filter.
- Then, look at your browser’s URL. There you’ll see something called
f_TPR=86400(that’s the number of seconds in a day). - Change the number — lower it to filter jobs posted more recently.
- Example:
f_TPR=1800shows jobs posted in the last 30 minutes. (30 minutes = 1800 seconds)
- Example:
- Hit enter and check the results, you’ll see jobs with 0 to very few applicants.
This lets you apply before the job becomes flooded with competition and your chances of getting noticed increases.

Strategy #2: Niche Tech Communities
This is also a simple yet highly effective strategy to find jobs with less competition.
Let me tell you about one of my friend Sam. He was tired of applying and getting ignored on job boards. So he tried something different.
He joined the Discord server of a small AI startup he found online. It’s was a low-code AI voice platform. While exploring the community, he found a “Job Board” channel inside the server.

The idea is simple: target companies before they publicly post job openings.
Specifically, go after startups that recently raised funding. These companies:
- Have fresh capital to hire new talent
- Offer great salaries (sometimes $120K–$200K+)
- Move faster in hiring than big companies
- Often look for skilled developers immediately
But How Can You Find these Startups?
Try these options:
- Set Google Alerts like:
"YourCity + Tech Startup Funding" - Use tools like Crunchbase, GrowthList, or TechCrunch to find startups that have recently raised capital
- Search on Google for recently funded companies, etc.
Once you have the list of Companies:
- Go to LinkedIn.
- Find the CTO, engineering manager, or CEO of those companies.
- Send a personalized message or email.
- Test different outreach styles: use a short message, include a Loom video, or highlight your past projects.
Make sure to improve your proposals constantly. If your last 20 messages didn’t get replies, tweak your subject line, your tone, or make changes in your LinkedIn profile.
