1. Make Your Text Stand Out

In order to call it a good pin, the text written in your pin must pop out and should be clearly visible. Many creators use a light colored text on a light colored pin background or dark colored text on a dark colored background without any special text effects like stroke, shadow, etc. For example, using a pink color font in a white colored background or using a red color font in a black background. Doing so, your text will never be clearly visible.

So, while creating text, your text color should be light, if the background color is dark and the text color should be dark, if the background color is light. For example, if your background color is black, then your text color must be a light color like white, yellow, pink, etc. Doing this will help your text to pop out and increases visibility.

The next thing to make your text stand out is with the fonts you use. Using too many fonts in a single pin ruins its beautiness. I personally use the combination of a bold font and a handwritten font to create pins. And I would suggest you to not use more than 3 different fonts in a single pin.

2. Use Catchy Text

To make your pins click-worthy, you need to use catchy text. Catchy text means the text you write in your pins that catches the viewers attention. For example, if you have a blog post about 7 different ways to make money blogging, then instead of writing “7 different ways to make money blogging” on your pin, you can write “7 different ways to make $250/day with your blog”.

Doing this can significantly increase the click and conversion rate of your pins. Think of your pins as a way to market your business and do things that gets more eyeballs and conversions.

3. Use High Quality Images

A pin is comprised of two main things. One is the text written on it and next is the image used in it. So, while choosing an image to use in your pins, make sure they are of high quality, clean and clear. I would suggest you to not use images with dark colors as those colors tend to grab more attention than the text written on your pin. So, even if you have dark colored images, you can use them in your pins by lowering their opacity(transparency) rate.

While using an image in your pin, make sure the image is relevant to the pin. For example, if your pin is about planting tomatoes, then you need to use images of tomato plants, tomato seedlings or tomato itself instead of using an image of a garden or image of any other plant. This way, just by looking at the picture used in the pin, people can understand that the pin is about tomatoes.

You can find high quality images on sites like Pixabay, Pexels, Freepik, Vecteezy, Unsplash, etc for free. In your smart phone, you can use an app called Image Search Man to find and download copyright free images. And if you’re a Canva user, you can find thousands of images inside Canva itself.

4. Try & Test Different Styles

To succeed on Pinterest, you need to be creative with your designs. You need to try and test multiple things to find out what works the best and what doesn’t. You can try different fonts, font colors, background colors, images, etc. You can even change the placement of your text and images to see which works the best for you.

Remember, creativity brings change. So, never back out to make changes in your designs. Those changes may be the only thing between you and thousands of clicks and conversions you can get from Pinterest every month.

Not just designs, you need to be creative with your pin titles and description as well. So, make sure to use different titles and description in each and every of your pin to see what brings better results.

5. Don’t Use Too Much Text

Using too much text can also affect the performance of your pin. I have seen so many pins whose entire screen is covered with text. That doesn’t make your pin attractive instead that makes your pin look spammy.

Remember, your pin is not the place to share the entire information, it is only a medium to direct people to the actual source of information, like a blog post. So, use as less text as possible, but convey the message you want to convey through it clean and clearly.

And don’t take your text to the very edges of the pin because the edges of your pin gets cropped out while being shown to the people in their home feed and search results. So, make sure to leave a small gap on all 4 sides of your pin.

6. Create Bigger Size Pins

Normally, the pin size most creators use to create pins for Pinterest is 1000×1500. But did you know, there is no exact pin size you can or can’t pin on Pinterest. So, instead of creating a 1000×1500 pin, create pin having a ratio of 1080×1920.

Bigger sized pins cover larger area in the feed compared to the smaller ones. So, whenever they get shown to the audience on their home page or search results, that pin has a higher chance of getting noticed and engagement.

In some cases, you may not have enough content to fill the entire frame of the bigger pin. At that time, I would suggest you to create smaller pins. It is good to create a smaller pin compared to a pin that feels empty and incomplete.

7. Add a Call to Action

Adding a call to action in your pins can significantly increase your clicks and conversions. You can add something like read more, click here to learn more or find out more, etc. as call to action in your pins.

Even the name of your website can work as a call to action in your pins. When you add your website’s name, like www.groinsights.com in your pins, your audience gets to know that a website is linked to the pin, where they can find more information about the topic discussed in the pin.

So, you can either add an actual call to action to make people click on your pins or just add your website’s name in the pin as a call to action. The choice is yours!

8. Use Extra Elements

Not just text and images, using extra elements like arrows, text box, shapes and icons can make your pins look much more attractive and clickable.

I personally use arrows and icons in my pins to fill the empty spaces in my pins. While using such elements, I lower their opacity so that, they won’t get more focus than the text and actual image used in the pin.

If you’re using such elements in your pin, don’t use it too much that it ruins the vibe of your pin. So, use it as less as possible but wisely. This can be highly useful if large area remains empty in your pin. You can cover such areas with extra elements.

9. Recreate Top Performing Pins

The final and most easiest way to create beautiful, click-worthy pins is by recreating the top performing pins.

You can find top performing pins on search results, analyze your competitor’s profile or use a tool like Pin Inspector.

In my opinion, if a pin has received comments or at least 2 likes, then that pin is suitable to be recreated. You can change either the text color, font, background color or the image to make your pin unique and different from the one you recreated.  I have used this method in multiple of my accounts, and let me tell you, it works like magic.

These were 9 tips to create click-worthy pins for Pinterest. Even if you follow all these tips to create pins, it will take at least a few months to start seeing results. So, be patient but consistent with your work. The results will be worth the wait.
