Pinterest is a social media platform as well as a visual search engine with over 522 million monthly active users. Nearly 70% Pinterest users are women.
You can add links on your Pinterest pins to drive traffic to other sites. This makes Pinterest a powerful and straight forward platform to drive traffic to a blog, ecommerce store, YouTube channel, portfolio websites, and more. And this same feature makes Pinterest a must use platform for marketers, content creators and business owners. Pinterest has the power to make or break an entire business.
There are thousands of bloggers who rely totally on Pinterest to get traffic to their blog. And they do this as a full time job. One of my friend, who started her Pinterest account back in May of 2024, gets over 40,000 readers on her blog every month from Pinterest. In less than 6 months, she went from absolutely nothing to 40,000 monthly readers. From the last three months, she has been consistently making over $3000 a month through her blog. That is how powerful Pinterest is, if you can use it properly.
Now, you know what Pinterest is and what it can do, let’s see some tools you must have as a Pinterest content creator to smoothly manage and rapidly grow your account.
Please Note: This post contains affiliate links to products I use, trust, and recommend. If you choose to purchase a product using these links, I may receive a small commission for referring you – at no extra cost to you. These funds help me keep this blog up and running.
At first, let’s see why you should use these tools?
- To speed up your content creation process.
- To manage your account effortlessly.
- To get better results by spending less amount of time.
- To find trending topics and high volume keywords.
- To get results faster.
- To convert viewers into customers, etc.
1. Graphic Design Tool
In order to grow and get traffic from Pinterest, you need to create and post content. Unlike other social media platforms, video content doesn’t work well on Pinterest so, image content is the king. And to create image content, you need a graphic design tool.
There are several graphic design tools on the market. You can use Adobe Photoshop or Canva on your PC and Pixellab, Picsart or Canva to create graphics on your smart phone. Compared to other tools, Canva is the best option in my opinion because Canva has a huge library of pre-made templates and has a simple user friendly interface which makes creating content easier and faster.
If you want to learn, how to create beautiful pins in Canva then, check out this Canva pin design course by Nadalie Bardo. In this course, she teaches everything you need to know about Canva and tips and tricks to create attractive Pinterest pins.
2. Stock Photo Library
To create stunning pin graphics, you need to use clean, clear and colorful stock images. There are some graphic design tools that have their own stock photo library like Canva, but sometimes, they don’t have the photo you need and if we’re talking about other tools like, Adobe Photoshop or Picsarts, they don’t even have a stock photo library.
So, having a good source of stock images is always necessary as a creator to create content and grow on Pinterest.
Don’t tell it to anyone but if you create graphics on your smart phone then, you can use an app called Image Search Man to find photos, vectors and gifs to use in your pin designs. I personally use this app every time, I design pins or any other design. The best part is, nearly every picture found on this app is copyright & royalty free so, you can use them in your pin designs without any restrictions.
There are websites like, Pixabay, Unsplash and Pexels, where you can find tons of stock images and videos for free. And you can find vector graphics on websites like, Freepik, Vecteezy, and Flaticon for free.
3. Pin Generator
If you don’t have time to create pins and don’t have enough money to hire someone else to create pins for you then, you can use Pin Generator. Using Pin Generator, you can generate Pinterest pins with just a few clicks.
All you need to do is, type the url of your blog post then, Pin Generator will automatically fetch the content and create a catchy pin for you. It takes just a few seconds. The generated pin is absolutely ready to be pinned and doesn’t require any changes to it. I’m a graphic designer so, I normally don’t use it but whenever I don’t have enough time to create pins, I use Pin Generator to create pins. And let me tell you, it has never disappointed me with it’s output.
If you don’t have much knowledge about graphic design or if you don’t have enough time to create pins then, Pin Generator is the perfect solution for you. Here’s the link, if you’d like to learn more about Pin Generator.
4. Pinterest Pin Scheduler
If you’re a new blogger then, you might have less number of blog posts. So, you can manually post each and every pin on Pinterest yourself. But what if, you have 20, 30 or even hundreds of blog posts, Huh? At that time, manually pinning content can be a headache and requires a lot of time because when you have high number of blog posts, you need to pin at least 10-15 times per day. So, instead of pinning them manually, you can use a pin scheduler tool to do it. You can schedule a large number of pins at a time using pin scheduler tools.
Tailwind is the best tool to schedule pins on Pinterest. I personally use Tailwind to schedule my pins as well. Pinterest has their own pin scheduling feature but that doesn’t work that well. So, using an external tool seems to be the best option to schedule your pins.
Nowadays, pin scheduler tools have an in-built AI feature, which crafts a perfect pin title and description for your pins. This makes pin scheduler tools even more worthy, useful and time saver.
5. Email Marketing Tool
Pinterest is a great way to drive traffic to your blog. But what if, someone visits your blog, consumes the content and leaves? You may think, that is what I need. Listen, Yes, that is what you needed but converting your traffic into subscribers is equally important as driving traffic, to build a long lasting audience base.
Collecting emails to build an email list is one of the oldest and effective way of marketing. After you build an email list, you can make money with it. You can promote affiliate products, sell your own products, share your latest blog posts, and so much more. According to multiple sources, a single email in your email list is worth $1 per month. So, if you have 10,000 email subscribers then, you have the potential to make $10,000 every month.
You can use a tool like, Convertkit, Mailchimp, Getresponse or Mailerlite to collect emails to build your email list.
6. Pin Inspector
Pin Inspector is a powerful tool used to find keywords and top performing content on Pinterest. Pin Inspector shows you such data and information that Pinterest itself doesn’t shows you.
If you’re serious about growing on Pinterest and want to increase your chance of getting noticed then, Pin Inspector is the tool you need. Using Pin Inspector, you can:
- Find keywords with high search volume and less competition,
- Find trending topics,
- Analyze pins, boards, and your competitors profile,
- Find top performing content in your niche, which you can replicate to go viral.
It is a paid tool which you can get for one time payment of $67 but if you use my code PIN20 then, you’ll get a $20 discount. Here’s the link, if you’d like to learn more about it.
7. ChatGPT
If you’re trying to grow on Pinterest then, ChatGPT is the must use tool for you. With ChatGPT, you can generate content ideas, do keyword research, craft SEO optimized metadata for your pins including; pin title, description, hastags and alt text.
I personally use ChatGPT to create pin descriptions and alt text for my pins. To create metadata for your pin, you can type a simple prompt like, Create a keyword rich pin title, description with relevant hastags, and alt text for a Pinterest pin titled “Tools every Pinterest creator must have”. After typing this prompt, ChatGPT will craft the metadata for your pin.
ChatGPT is a free tool so, you can use it as much as you can for your benefit. If you don’t like the responses generated by it then, you can modify them yourself as you wish.
These were seven tools every Pinterest creator must have and use in order to create content and grow faster. There are few other tools as well like, a link in bio, Pinterest itself as it has tools like, Pinterest Trends, Analytics, and Ads, which helps to find trending topics and keywords.
These seven tools helps you to do everything you need to grow on Pinterest. From finding keywords and trending topics to creating graphics and crafting pin metadata. So, make sure to use these tools to make your Pinterest creator journey much more smoother and easier.
